Beyond Behavior California’s Prevention and Policy Updates:
COVID-19 and San Joaquin County School Closures:
Updated: March 13, 2020
The health, safety and overall wellness of our Clients, Staff and families are of the up most importance to us here at BBC. As educators/clinicians, we frequently come in contact with dozens of clients, families and other staff on a daily basis as well as different illnesses and viruses during the cold and flu season. We provide valuable services to the children in our program in the community, home, educational and clinic settings and place high standards on our sanitation and sterilization methods for this reason.
The office, materials and equipment including but not limited to iPads, toys, and phones used by our staff and clients are sanitized with disinfectant wipes after every use and between clients. Additionally, all staff will wash their hands often with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds. Staff is reminded to do so after blowing their noses, coughing, sneezing or having been in a public place and touching any high touch items such as door handles. Hand sanitizer of 60% alcohol or more is acceptable for sanitizing hands when soap or water are not available. All staff has been trained on preventative actions including but not limited to avoiding the touching of their faces, noses, eyes and mouths, avoiding crowded areas and avoiding all non-essential travel including plane trips and cruise ships. Should BBC staff travel, for the safety of our clients and staff, the individual will be self quarantined for a minimum of 14-days. We will work with the families to coordinate makeup session that work with their schedules. Staff has been advised to stay at home at any time they are sick and to use proper sanitation precautions in their homes including covering coughs and sneezes as well as frequently washing their hands.
BBC reserves the right to restrict staff and clients from returning to work and or session after an international trip, cruise trip and or plane travel during an outbreak or pandemic. Restriction from the BBC office, sessions or clients my be for a 14-day quarantine to monitor the health of the individual and may require medical clearance to return to the facility. Due to the extreme concern we have about COVID-19 and the fragile health of many of our clients, staff and their families, effective today Friday March 13, 2020, ALL clients and staff who travel outside of the United States or embark on a cruse or plane ride will REQUIRE medical clearance from a physician prior to returning to BBC service.
BBC is aware that due to the current status of this pandemic, on Friday March 13, 2020, Lodi, Manteca, Stockton and Tracy (Banta) schools/ San Joaquin County Schools are currently closed until April 6, 2020. BBC will be closely monitoring the closures as we know our clients are effected. During this time, we will be allowing for schedule changes to earlier times should this work best for our clients and their families. Our Administrative staff will be working Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15 getting in touch with our clients in the San Joaquin County. Administration will be asking if families wish to change their current recurring session to one of the following time blocks during the time the School Districts are closed:
- Monday – Friday
- 8 AM – 11:30 AM
- 12 PM – 2:30p
- 3p – 8p
Please note if you accept a schedule change this time block will be recurring until school resumes at which time we will revert back to original schedules. During this time to ensure less in and out activity of our staff members in client homes only Behavioral Technicians will be at sessions. However, Clinical Supervisors and BCBA’s will join into sessions as scheduled via secure HIPAA compliant video chat software.
